The JSON API
The rules ledger is available as machine-readable JSON with no key and no rate limit, for data journalism, research and answer engines:
GET https://personalinvestmentaccounts.ie/api/public/pia-rules
Each rule carries a stable identifier (PIA-001 upward), a category, a plain-English statement, a status, the date it last changed and the source it comes from. The response includes the ledger version, so you can tell when the record has moved. Identifiers never change meaning; when a rule is superseded it is revised, not renumbered.
Where the underlying numbers come from
- PIA rules: Department of Finance roadmap for the Personal Investment Account (August 2026), Budget and Finance Bill documents as published.
- Deposit rates: Central Bank of Ireland, Retail Interest Rates Table B.1.1.
- Equity returns: MSCI World Index (EUR, net dividends reinvested).
- Prices and inflation: CSO Consumer Price Index and the CSO property, electricity and fuel series cited on the page.
- Provider statements: named public sources — company statements, regulatory registers and dated press coverage — linked in each tracker entry.
