What this site is, what it is not, and how we are paid.

This is information, not advice
PIA·IE publishes research and comparisons about Ireland's Personal Investment Account and the tax rules around investing. We are not authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland to give investment advice, and nothing on this site is a personal recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. If you need advice about your own situation, speak to a regulated financial adviser or a tax adviser.
The figures are illustrative
The Personal Investment Account is not yet law. The tax rate, the tax-free threshold and the annual contribution limit are all still undecided, and provider fees quoted before launch are indicative. Our calculators show what the maths would produce under stated assumptions — they are not a forecast and not a promise. Past investment returns are not a guide to future returns, and the value of investments can fall as well as rise.
Where we cite a figure, we name the source and the date. Our rules ledger records what is confirmed, what is proposed and what is still open.
How we make money
We expect to earn a referral fee from investment firms when a reader we introduce opens an account. No such arrangement is in place yet, and when one is, it will be stated on the relevant page. A referral fee never buys a ranking, a review score or a place on the provider list — firms appear on merit and on published fact, and pages are ordered by what is useful to the reader.
Using our material
Our original datasets — the rules ledger, the provider readiness tracker and the historic return and inflation series — are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Reuse them freely with a credit and a link. Site design, written guides and code are not covered by that licence.
Links and liability
We link to third-party sites, including investment firms and official sources. We are not responsible for their content or their terms. While we work hard on accuracy, we cannot guarantee the site is error-free or continuously available, and we are not liable for loss arising from decisions made on the basis of what you read here.
These terms are governed by Irish law.

Run your own numbers
Compare a Personal Investment Account against a deposit account and a standard fund over 10, 20 or 30 years — with real Irish rates.

Final PIA rules — the contribution limit, the tax-free threshold and the flat rate — are due to be confirmed in Budget 2027 and the related Finance Bill. Figures cited are from the Department of Finance roadmap, Revenue, Skatteverket, GOV.UK and the IRS.
