What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to get it removed.

Who is responsible for your data

PIA·IE (personalinvestmentaccounts.ie) is the data controller for the information described on this page. You can reach us at privacy@personalinvestmentaccounts.ie.

What we collect

  • Launch alerts: your email address, and which part of the site you signed up from.
  • Introduction requests: your email address, your name if you give it, the provider you are interested in, and how you plan to invest.
  • Consent record: the exact wording shown to you, the date and time you submitted the form, and the date you confirmed your email.
  • Analytics: pages viewed, approximate location at country level, device type and referring site — only if you accept cookies.

We do not ask for, and do not want, your PPS number, date of birth, financial account details or any other sensitive information. Never send those to us.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Consent. You give us an email address so we can email you, and you confirm that address by clicking a link in the first email we send. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by emailing us. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we sent before.

Analytics cookies are set only where you have accepted them. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Who else sees it

  • Our hosting and database provider, which stores the data inside the EU.
  • Our email sending service, used to deliver confirmation and launch alerts.
  • Google Analytics, if you accepted analytics cookies.

We do not pass your details to an investment firm unless you specifically ask us to at that moment. Signing up for launch alerts is never treated as permission to introduce you to a provider. If you later ask for an introduction, we will tell you exactly which firm will receive your details before anything is sent.

How long we keep it

  • Email addresses that are never confirmed are deleted after 90 days.
  • Confirmed subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
  • A record that an address unsubscribed is kept indefinitely, so we do not email you again by mistake.
  • Analytics data is retained for 14 months.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Email privacy@personalinvestmentaccounts.ie and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handled it, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Cookies

The site itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies. When you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count visits and tell repeat visits from new ones. Your accept-or-decline choice is stored in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and never leaves your device.

Declining analytics changes nothing about how the site works. Aggregate visitor counts are also collected by our hosting platform without cookies and cannot identify you.

Not financial advice

PIA·IE is an independent comparison and information site. We are not authorised to give investment advice and nothing here is a personal recommendation. See our terms and disclaimer.
